A Prayer for Sky Father

Good morning, Sky Father. I give thanks for my life and my journey. I give thanks for the air that I breathe. I give thanks for the sun, the moon, the stars, and the clouds to dream by. I give thanks for the rain and snow that bring water to the lands to fill our rivers, streams, and aquifers. give thanks for all that you have given to us and ask your forgiveness for the way we have treated you. I pray that our hearts will open and that we will come to see that the damage we do to you, we are doing to ourselves, as we are all related. I pray that our hearts are open and we have realized the world we will leave to the seventh generation, may very well be a sparse, poisoned world in which their children may not survive. I pray that we open our hearts and come together as one voice to bring change to the way we live so that we may once again live in harmony and balance with all that is. I pray that we come together as one people to clean our skies and in turn the water and the land. I pray that our hearts and minds are open to new ideas and put aside our greed for the betterment of all of creation. I pray my heart open, to your guidance and wisdom, my heart to your heart, one heart, one spirit.

When are we going to get it? When are we going to see that the poisons we put into the sky come back to us. Where do people think all that gunk we keep puffing up into the sky goes? Granted, some of the CO2 is observed by the trees and returned as oxygen, but then again, how  much can the increasingly fewer and fewer trees absorb? As we continue to deforest the land, there are fewer of these natural filters to take the CO2 out of the air and replace it with oxygen. You know oxygen, that stuff we need to breathe? If we continue with unbridled development with little regard for the number of trees removed, how long before we tip the scales to where we create more CO2 than the remaining trees can absorb?
Of course, CO2 is not the only issue, there are all those other chemicals and pollutants that are puffed into the sky. We won't get into the litter that the space and military programs have left up there. When I drive over the bridge from Fall River into Somerset, I can look to the left and see New England Power and the plumes of smoke coming out of its stacks. I remember many years ago when my ex and I were looking for a home, we went to look at one over near there. There was soot everywhere. Scratch that. We weren't going to raise our kids covered in soot. Of course, going back over the bridge the other way, you saw the dark smoke of ancient boilers from the old textile factories. These buildings mostly converted over for other uses like outlets and such, but still using the ancient boilers. How many other cities are like that? The real question is what becomes of all that gunk being put into the sky? Where does it go?
Well, the wind can only do so much. Eventually, it will precipitate and come back to earth. If not by way of gravity, by way of rains and snows.  Haven't you noticed how sweet the air smells after a decent rainfall? Squeaky clean, thanks Father Sky! The real question is where did it go? It didn't just vanish. No, the rains carried the dirt we put into the air into our rivers, streams, and eventually our aquifers. No wonder municipalities have to put so many chemicals into the water. No wonder much of the wildlife that depends on the streams and lakes are dying off. If we stop pushing so much into the sky, maybe we might just be able to get a handle on cleaning up our lakes and streams.
The sad part is that many in our own government want you to believe that all the talk about global warming is junk science. I ask you to fly it by any fifth grader and ask them what happens to all the gunk we put into the sky. It doesn't take a scientist to figure all this out.
Speaking of global warming, I heard recently that the scientists now believe that they were off in their figures, and oops, not in our favor. They said that the data used for the initial projections for the melting of the polar ice cap was based on 1970's data.  Their projections don't include the current data with regards to China and India, so they are changing their forecast. It's like I keep telling my wife who always wanted ocean front property, "We just need to stay where we are because the ocean front is coming to us.". It would be a stretch for it to come that far inland, but all those living on ocean front property better think about upping their flood insurance.
Why is it that we are not pushing energy solutions like solar or wind? Maybe if more people got into these technologies, the prices would come down and the technology would improve. I look out over the neighborhood and see all those rooftops. Why don't they have solar collectors? That is a rhetorical questions as I understand that people can't afford to put solar arrays on their houses. Too many people are living paycheck to paycheck as more and more of their meager wages are absorbed by the energy companies. They wonder why we are going into a recession when people don't have money to spend of anything but energy. Imagine a solar array in some of the deserted places like the Great Salt Lake, or some of the desert places. How about wind farms out in the great plains. Imagine if the demand rose for these wind turbines and it actually became profitable for companies to better the technology so that the turbines can create even more electricity under the slightest of breezes. Imagine the demand growing for solar panels where at least one slope of the roof has arrays on it. The panel technology getting better in absorbing the minutest of light, even from the moon.
If you want to move beyond the ignorance that our government and the energy companies want you cloaked in, get a copy of Mother Earth News or some of the other publications that are like that. You will find many articles that deal with solar, wind, and other forms of energy. You might even find sources for less expensive parts.
We can no longer believe that our government has our best interest at heart. We can no longer sit by and wait for someone to solve the problem for us. It is time for us to take matters into our own hands. We have to start thinking about what we are leaving the seventh generation.
My heart to your heart, one heart, one spirit.

One heart, one spirit, one day….soon.  We have to keep raising our voices and our consciousness and remind each other every day that we each have the power to do something.  Thanks, once again, for the great inspiration, my friend!

Thank you for your comments. Many times I write and wonder if anybody really cares what I have to say. I have almost walked away from doing this and keeping up my groups many times, then there is that one message that says how much it means to them. One heart, one voice, as long as there is one.

Like you I write and wonder when  people will make the connections. We are already putting a real strain on the planet, but humanity keeps multiplying, and polluting, even though some of our own offspring are dying or ill because of our actions. It is madness.
