The New Journey of White Wolf

I have just come into knowledge that I am not the lone White Wolf, a white man walking the red road, that I have come to believe. In speaking of my journey to my mother this past weekend, I came to find out that I do have Native blood. It appears that my grandmother never spoke of her grandmother because she didn't like her. Her grandmother was full blooded Huron. My mother said that my aunt uncovered it while tracing the family roots back through Canada to France. She was tracing the Authier family and came to find out about Claire Champagne. My aunt also treated Claire as a side shoot not worth following as she continued to trace the family back to France via Canada. While my family has no interest in their Native heritage, my red heart does. I did find that the Huron were once a large powerful Nation that had split after the great war with the Iroquois. The members of the rock clan merged with the Onodagas, and the remaining bear clan merged with the Mohawk. Others went south. I have been told that the Wenandot are that branch. I have a lot to learn about the Huron, but specifically I have to find the story of Claire Champagne, if there is one. In the end, I may still be the lone wolf, walking outside the circle, unable to prove the blood that flows. What I do know is that my heart is and always has been red. I just haven't had the culture and teachers to make the outside of me so.

An update: I finally heard back from the Conseil de la nation Huronne-Wendat.

Mr. Croft

You letter was transferred to me, as I am the person responsable for the
Huron Wendat Registry.
Neither Champagne nor Lanoue are names that are familier to the Huron
Nation. More info (which I realise is difficult to find) would be
necessary to connect one or the other to our Nation.

If it was Moise Champagne's mother, try to find her maiden name.
Same thing with Sophie Lanoue.

Trying to connect the dots entails an enormous amount of work. But as I
said both the names you have given me are not known Huron names. (I also
checked with our archives on the names.)

Let me know if you can go further back in history.

So it appears that I am just another white man walking the red road. Even if I am able to trace further back, by then my blood would be so diluted that I could not claim to belong to any nation. This does not deter me from my path. It just would have been nice to be accepted as a blood relative. I will continue my walk for that is what the Creator wishes of me.
