It is a good day to die.

Posted on Mar 8th, 2006 by WhiteWolf : The Journeyer WhiteWolf
What does that mean to people? If I say that to some, they would interpret that to mean that I am suicidle. Not that I am, far from it. I first heard that when I started to study Native American Culture/Spirituality. What a profound statement that is. Rather than saying that you wished to die, it states that you are at peace with yourself and could die today with no regrets. How many of us can really say that? How many of us can say that if today were the day, we would have no regrets? This is the ideal we need to seek. To become at peace with ourselves. To know that we are spirit, thus we cannot die, so should have no fear of doing so. I have no fear of dying. Rather I think I have more fear of living. Yes, it is a good day to die. The only worries I would have would be for my wife and children that they would be safe. Otherwise, I could lie on my death bead and smile. It is a good day to die. Indeed, it is.
Walk in beauty, walk in peace.

Aho White Wolf!
Indeed it is a good day to die. This philosophy is how one faces each day knowing the mortal ity of physical life is our constant spur to excellence, amulet against banality and materialism, It is similar to the Benedictine rule in some ways and to Buddhist detachment as well. It indeed does not mean we hate life but rather that we love life and hope to achieve ripe old age in honor and with love. But we have our eyes wide open. We could live to 103 or we could get hit by a bus today: therfore postpone no kindness, let no good deed go undone or kind word go unsaid.
