About Me:
Remember, the Olympics happen because of Corporate sponsors. Leading the pack is Coca-Cola and McDonalds. Other sponsors include GE, Johnson and Johnson, Lenovo, Kodak, Manulife, Omega, Panasonic, Samsung, Visa, Adidas, Haier, Budweiser, UPS, Staples, and Snickers made by Mars.
Maybe it is time to send these sponsors the message that we are mad as hell and we aren't going to take it anymore. The abuse of people throughout the world needs to come to an end. Send the message to the corporate sponsors, boycott their products, send them letters, and give these Olympics the worst ratings of any Olympics ever. Send a clear message that corporate sponsorship of these OIympics is tantamount to supporting the genocide of many.
Don't let the IOC blame the protestors for making this political. They made it political when they gave in to China and allowed a country with a horrendous human rights record to become a host of games that are meant to celebrate the coming together of people. One of the first criteria for picking a site should be the way that the host country treats the citizens of the world. Even some athletes are torn between boycotting despite all their hard work to get there, or as some have stated, going so as to make a statement. Though, in the past, those that have done so have been banned from further competition.

And I say the sacred hoop of my people was one of the many hoops that made one circle, wide as daylight and as starlight, and in the center grew one mighty flowering tree to shelter all the children of one mother and one father.

Remember always,
Everything you say,
Everything you do,
Little eyes are watching you.
(Reba McIntyre remembering a poster that hung in her gym when she was playing basketball. It helped her in later life to remember always that the children are watching us and the things that we say and do maybe inspire or affect a child. If we are to grow as elders, we must take these words to heart and always live our life as an example to those who will follow. Thank you Reba for sharing this with us.)
Leaders don’t force people to follow –
they invite them on a journey.
– Charles S. Lauer
When you know who you are;
when your mission is clear and you
burn with the inner fire of unbreakable will;
no cold can touch your heart;
no deluge can dampen your purpose.
You know that you are alive.

“There are hundreds of paths up the mountain,
all leading in the same direction,
so it doesn’t matter which path you take.
The only one wasting time is the one
who runs around and around the mountain,
telling everyone else that their path is wrong.”
Hindu Teaching
My pod is a vision of a new way of living. A sharing of ideas on how to live more in harmony with each other and all living things. It is heavy in Native American wisdom as they were the first true ecologists.

Elder's Meditation of the Day - December 3
“Listen to the howl of our spiritual brother, the wolf, for how it goes with him, so it goes for the natural world.”
–Oren R. Lyons, Spokesman, Traditional Circle of Elders
If we watch nature, we can tell a lot about what is going on in the world. The animals and the plants are great teachers. Some time ago, crops were sprayed with a poison to kill the insects. Other animals ate the insects. The small animals were eaten by the Eagles and the Wolves. We live in an interconnected system. What we do to one, we do to all. If our spiritual brothers are living in balance, chances are we humans are also living in balance.
Great Spirit, let me listen to my Earth teachers, the plants and the animals.

Indian man walks into a cafe one early morning and noticed that he was the only dark skinned man there. As he sat down, he noticed a white man behind him. The white man said, “Colored people are not allowed here.”
The Indian man turned around and stood up. Then said, “Listen sir…when I was born I was brown,” “When I grew up I was brown,” “When I’m sick I’m brown,” “When I go in the sun I’m brown,” “When I’m cold I’m brown,” “When I die I’ll be brown.” “But you sir, when you’re born you’re pink, when you grow up you’re white, when you’re sick, you’re green, when you go in the sun you turn red. When you’re cold you turn blue. And when you die you turn purple.” “And you have the nerve to call me colored?”
The Indian man then sat back down to enjoy a hot breakfast and the white man walked away…
Pass it on if you dislike racism
Sometimes I go about pitying myself
And all the while I am being carried across the sky
By beautiful clouds.
Thus we see that the all-important thing is not killing or giving life, drinking or not drinking, living in the town or the country, being lucky or unlucky, winning or losing. It is how we win, how we lose, how we live or die; finally, how we choose. We walk, and our religion is shown (even to the dullest and most insensitive person), in how we walk.
Living in this world means choosing, and the way we choose to walk is infallibly and perfectly expressed in the walk itself.
R. H. Blyth
In beauty may I walk;
With beauty before me, may I walk;
With beauty above me, may I walk;
With beauty below me, may I walk;
With beauty all around me, may I walk;
In beauty, may my walk be finished;
In beauty, may my walk be finished.
Hold on to what is good,
Even if it's a handful of earth.
Hold on to what you believe,
Even if it's a tree that stands by itself.
Hold on to what you must do,
Even if it's a long way from here.
Hold on to your life,
Even if it's easier to let go.
Hold on to my hand,
Even if someday I'll be gone away from you.
